There’s nothing quite like a pristine looking pool to add to the aesthetic of your outdoor area and your pool cleaner plays an important role in keeping your water sparkling. There are a few different types you can choose from and robotic pool cleaners offer the latest technology. Although robotic pool cleaners have a reputation as being low maintenance and reliable, there may be times where you run into issues. Today, we’ll be offering our top troubleshooting tips when your robotic pool cleaner isn’t behaving.
Your robot cleaner won’t move
One of the most common issues we have people ask us about is that their robotic cleaner isn’t moving. The first thing you need to do is check that everything is connected correctly to the power supply – it seems simple but is easily overlooked! Check all your connections and then turn off your power supply for 30 seconds before trying again. If your robot cleaner is only moving in certain areas of the pool, it could be that you don’t have enough slack with your cord. Or it could also be that a slight level of algae has developed in certain areas of the pool (even if you can’t see it!) and your pool robot is slipping on it.
Your robot cleaner isn’t picking up debris
If your pool robot is moving around nicely but doesn’t seem to be picking up the debris that it should, it’s time to check the robot’s internal filter. Rather than being connected to your pool’s filtration system, robotic cleaners have self-contained filters that need to be cleaned out regularly. Often your cleaner failing to pick up debris is easily fixed by checking and cleaning the filter bag or cartridge.
Your robot’s movements are jerky
Ok, so your robot is moving and seems to be picking up some debris but is jerky and not as effective as it should. In many cases, this is because there is some debris caught in the belt and gears. Take the time to take a closer look at your robot and pull out any debris or particles. Sometimes the belt does come off one side of the robot feet as well.
Your robot isn’t climbing the walls
If your robot seems to be sticking to the bottom of the pool rather than climbing up the sides as it should, it could be that there is the beginning of algae which is making the walls of the pool slippery. If you can already see algae, this will need to be treated before your robot can do its job. Also, take the opportunity to check the brushes on your robot to make sure they’re not worn out or obstructed. If you need a helping hand finding the best robotic pool cleaner for your needs, the experienced team at Pool Assist can help.
